Federal Reserve Community Development Perspectives JUNE 2014 Greetings, We are pleased to present you with this report that is designed to provide an overview of the Federal Reserve's recent community development (CD) efforts to help address barriers to economic growth and promote fair and informed access to financial markets. This report begins with a description of the Federal Reserve CD function and then shares brief summaries of our work organized into four topic areas: policy and practice, people, place, and small business. Within each of these topic areas you'll find background information that helps to provide context for our work, a sampling of our key research, outreach programs, and other initiatives, and ideas on future challenges, needs, and opportunities. We are posting this report online in conjunction with the launch of a new website, FedCommunities.org, which contains a wide array of CD resources, such as research papers, events, and multimedia tools from each of the 12 Reserve Banks and the Board of Governors. This "one stop" site will be continuously updated and features an interactive search tool that allows users to find resources organized around the four topic areas described in this report. We hope you enjoy this report and visit our newly designed website. We encourage your feedback on what we have shared and welcome your ideas going forward. Sincerely, The Community Affairs Officers of the Federal Reserve System 2
